Welcome to our MP3 OF THE WEEK page! 4/27/2001 Since we are playing a show down south tonight, I am digging into the live show recordings of Landspeedrecord for this week's MP3 of the Week. The show took place at the Boonefest... a music festival run by Kevin of the Karloffs that happens yearly (hopefully still) near Appalachian State University, which is located in a town called Boone. Duh. This show was also Jeff Bradford's first show ever with us. The song is called "musical warfare" and it is written by Mike Lackey. Mike was the singer/songwriter/guitarist for a local annapolis band called "the Shit". Everyone in Landspeedrecord! loves the shit. They are the shit after all. So we decided to cover one of their songs. The Shit had Alvin Tucker of Freakbeans fame on bass. Plus it had Mike Littleton on drums, who later went on to play in Ida. It also had Chris Rolling in it too. Chris has been in too many bands to list. He is quite the band slut. Hi chris! :) Chris is currently in The Figure Eights. That was their second line up. The first line up had Chris Marburger on guitar with Mike singing and playing guitar too and I don't know who on bass and drums but I probably should since I am such a big fan. Anyway... we butchered the damn song and slowed it way down and then didn't even play it right. But it is still an interesting listen. We play it out every now and then still... there is even a studio recording of it that is pretty damn good if only I would just finish mixing it.
